Joe Kye and Sophie Lippert: Home for the Holidays

Doors 7:00pm Show 7:30pm

Join violinist-looper/composer Joe Kye and pianist/cellist Sophie Lippert for an exclusive collaborative concert at Fremont Abbey in Seattle, featuring classical masterpieces alongside original compositions, solo and collaborative performances, and a number of fabulous musical surprises. The evening is a unique and rare opportunity to hear Chopin, Debussy, and Ravel alongside jazz, blues, and improvisation—and some holiday tunes, too! Prepare for an exciting foray through incredible soundscapes with two great performers & musical innovators.

Musicians Joe Kye and Sophie Lippert first made music together as high school students at a local chamber music camp in Seattle. More than a decade later, Kye and Lippert are touring professionals devoted to creating deeper engagement, connection, and community through music.

Born in Korea and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Joe has released two studio albums, and been featured on numerous radio shows including PRI's The World, BBC World News, and Live Wire. He has performed in collaboration with many incredible artists, including the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra, the Sacramento Ballet, Alvin Ailey Composer/Percussionist William Catanzaro, and LA hip-hop artist Jason Chu, and has opened for world-renown cellist Yo-Yo Ma and Senator Bernie Sanders.

Born in Chicago and raised in Seattle, Sophie has won numerous competitions as a classical pianist, and has performed as featured soloist with the Seattle Symphony, Seattle Philharmonic, and several Rice University ensembles. She is a passionate piano teacher and performer, and former owner of the successful Vibrant Studios Studio & Business Collective. In 2019, Sophie will be featured soloist with the Seattle Philharmonic in the North America debut of Elsa Barraine's La Mise Funeral March.
